Central Asia Metals' production disrupted by incident at Kounrad

Guidance for 2015 is currently 13,000 tonnes of copper, but the incident will have an impact on this figure.

Copper production at Central Asia Metals’ (LON:CAML) Kounrad operation in Kazakhstan has been disrupted by a problem with the solvent extraction section.

Guidance for 2015 is currently 13,000 tonnes of copper, but the incident will have an impact on this figure. No one was hurt.

Central Asia said while the immediate cause of the problem had been rectified, the plant will run at a much reduced rate until the full extent of the loss of organic inventory is determined.

The situation will be assessed over the next few days during which period the company will discuss the delivery of reagents with its suppliers.

A first half production update is due on 3 July.
