OKYO Pharma Ltd (NASDAQ:OKYO) announced that its executive chairman and founder, Gabriele Cerrone, along with members of the company’s management team, will ring the Nasdaq Opening Bell at the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square, New York.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place between 9:15 a.m. and 9:45 am Eastern Time.
OKYO said the event marks the company’s ongoing progress in developing treatments for neuropathic corneal pain (NCP), an ocular condition characterized by chronic nerve-related pain and for which there are currently no FDA-approved therapies.
"This is a proud moment for OKYO Pharma and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our exceptional team who are working to improve patient outcomes," Cerrone said in a statement.
"Ringing the Nasdaq Opening Bell is a powerful celebration of our unwavering commitment to transforming patient outcomes through groundbreaking therapies for ocular pain. We are excited about the future as we advance our clinical programs and deliver on our mission to address unmet medical needs."
OKYO Pharma is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of urcosimod, its lead drug candidate. Urcosimod is described by the company as a lipid-conjugated chemerin peptide agonist that targets the ChemR23 G-protein-coupled receptor.
The company also highlighted recent progress in its development pipeline, including positive Phase 2 clinical trial results for urcosimod in neuropathic corneal pain. According to OKYO, the results showed favorable outcomes related to corneal nerve measures and reductions in pain.
