Carnavale Resources CEO Humphrey Hale talked with Proactive about the company's signed heritage and mining agreement for the Kookynie gold project in Western Australia.
Hale said the agreement with the traditional owners represents the final step needed before the Department can grant the company’s mining licence. “That will bring us to lodging the agreement with the Department and that will release the mining license for grant as the final step,” he explained.
He described the agreement as a significant milestone, formalising how Carnavale and the traditional owners will handle cultural, heritage, and environmental considerations and establish an ongoing partnership for the development of the project. Hale thanked David Canning and the WTAC group for facilitating the negotiations with the Nyalpa Pirniku people, acknowledging their practical approach to reaching the agreement.
Looking ahead, Hale said the company is already progressing full steam with its feasibility study and that recent capital raised is funding this next phase. The mining licence will allow Carnavale to quote reserves in the feasibility study, with the company expecting to be fully permitted and shovel-ready by mid-2026.
