Standard Uranium Ltd (TSX-V:STND, OTCQB:STTDF) said it has appointed veteran uranium geologist Doug Engdahl as a non-executive director, effective immediately, as the Canada-based explorer strengthens its board and audit committee.
Engdahl, a professional geologist, is president and CEO of Axiom Exploration Group, a global exploration consulting firm, and brings more than two decades of experience in mineral exploration, including over 14 years in the uranium sector with companies such as Cameco and AREVA, now known as Orano.
His experience spans advanced exploration and production, including work at the McArthur River mine in Canada’s Athabasca Basin.
Standard Uranium said Engdahl will join its audit committee and provide technical, governance and capital markets oversight, drawing on his board-level experience across several public mining companies.
“Doug is a well-respected and accomplished business professional with extensive experience in the uranium sector and public markets,” chairman Jon Bey said in a statement. “His perspective and leadership will help accelerate our long-term vision as we focus on making a high-grade uranium discovery in the Athabasca Basin.”
The company also acknowledged the contributions of outgoing directors Neil McCallum and Zoya Shashkova. McCallum, one of Standard Uranium’s original directors when the company was founded in 2017, will continue to work with the company as lead technical advisor, while Shashkova is stepping down after four years on the board and audit committee.
Standard Uranium is focused on uranium exploration in Canada’s Athabasca Basin, one of the world’s richest uranium-producing regions.
