Volt Resources CEO Prashant Chintawar talked with Proactive about the company’s significant progress across its graphite operations in Tanzania, Ukraine, and the United States. Chintawar began by outlining Volt’s unique position as one of the few non-Chinese graphite producers with a vertically integrated presence — including a working graphite mine, processing plant, and refinery in Ukraine.
He highlighted a major recent development: a binding term sheet with the Unbounded Opportunities Fund, a funding partner with around $700 million in assets under management. This agreement is aimed at restarting and scaling up the Bunyu Project in Tanzania, which hosts a mineral resource of approximately 400 million tonnes. Chintawar explained the strategic importance of this funding, noting it is also targeted at supporting Volt’s downstream expansion in the United States.
On that front, Chintawar said: “We are moving forward with a definitive feasibility study for this Alabama refinery.” The proposed plant in Alabama would produce high-purity and ultra-high-purity graphite, helping to meet critical US demand, as the country currently imports all its graphite.
Looking ahead to 2026, Volt expects key progress on both projects, including the completion of the DFS for Alabama and formalising key partnerships.
