Charbone Hydrogen Corporation (TSX-V:CH, OTCQB:CHHYF) announced that it has officially commenced commercial production of clean ultra high purity (UHP) hydrogen at its modular facility in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, following the completion and successful testing of Phase 1A operations.
The company said the Sorel-Tracy project entered commercial production after the full installation of Phase 1A equipment and successful testing conducted during the final weekend of November.
Charbone noted that technical teams validated process stability, compliance with production parameters, and overall performance during the testing phase.
“The commercial launch of the Sorel-Tracy plant represents the culmination of several years of work, rigor, and strategic vision,” Charbone CEO Dave Gagnon said in a statement.
“We are extremely eager to begin delivering locally produced clean UHP hydrogen to our customers and are currently preparing first delivery. This is a major milestone for Charbone, and also for the clean UHP hydrogen industry in North America.”
The modular facility is Quebec’s first local and decentralized clean UHP hydrogen production site, according to Charbone.
The company said the Sorel-Tracy plant is a central component of its North American strategy, designed to supply industrial customers with a local source of clean and sustainable UHP hydrogen and strategic industrial gases.
Charbone said its localized production model is intended to address demand for reliable supply while maintaining competitive positioning. Charbone added that the project represents the initial phase of a broader rollout.
The company’s roadmap includes a phased expansion of capacity and the development of an interconnected production and distribution network for strategic gases across Canada and the US.
Shares of Charbone gained 6.8% just after Toronto's open at C$0.24.
