Ondine Biomedical Inc (AIM:OBI, OTC:OBIMF) told investors it has been shortlisted for the 2026 HSJ Partnership Awards, which recognise the strongest supplier relationships with the NHS.
It has been shortlisted for the 'Most Impactful Use of Technology on Clinical Practice' award. The nomination follows the use of its Steriwave nasal decolonisation technology by Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust to reduce post-surgical infections.
Steriwave was introduced at Pontefract and Pinderfields hospitals for patients undergoing hip and knee replacement procedures. Data collected over six months showed a 71% reduction in surgical site infections compared with standard care.
"We are pleased to be recognised for advancing patient welfare in the UK with our non-antibiotic nasal decolonisation therapy," chief executive Carolyn Cross said in a statement on Tuesday.
"This recognition highlights the importance of preventing potentially devastating post-surgical infections and reducing the UK's 6+ million patients surgical wait list by avoiding costly readmissions.
"Congratulations to Dr Stuart Bond and his team for introducing Steriwave to the NHS, demonstrating its clinical benefits amid rising antibiotic resistance and generating interest in the UK and abroad."
In a note, stockbroker Peel Hunt highlighted that award nominations such as this underscore "rare real-world traction" for the company's prevention technology, inside the NHS and markets abroad.
The broker commented: "We believe developments such as this demonstrate the clinical and economic benefits of adopting Steriwave and think there are lots of opportunities ahead for Ondine; in the UK’s NHS but also in its native Canada, the US (via its collaboration with HCA), and more broadly in Europe (via its collaboration with Molnlycke)."
