Filtronic begins new contract with major European defence contractor

Investors loaded up Filtronic PLC (LSE:FTC) shares on Monday after the radio frequency products maker won a £7 million contract from a major European defence contractor, marking the next phase of a long-running electronic sensor programme.

An authorisation to proceed (ATP) was received by the County Durham company to begin work so that a formal purchase order can be made in the first quarter of 2026.

The full contract, valued at approximately £11 million over two years, will involve the supply of high-performance active components for a European defence project.

Production will be carried out at Filtronic’s new secure, automated microelectronics facility in Sedgefield, which is designed to deliver efficient, high-volume manufacturing of complex RF modules for mission-critical applications.

Chief executive officer Nat Edington said: "This latest win deepens our engagement with a key European defence customer and strengthens Filtronic's position in the defence sector, a growing market for the group."

The contract highlights long-term confidence in Filtronic’s RF technology, which supports defence, space and aerospace applications. The company said its ongoing investment in capability and capacity enhances its readiness to meet sustained demand in the defence sector.
