MustGrow Biologics sees strong potato yield gains – ICYMI

MustGrow Biologics Corp. (TSX-V:MGRO, OTCQB:MGROF) earlier this week reported positive field trial results for its biofertility product TerraSante, following large-scale testing in US potato crops.

COO Colin Bletsky told Proactive about how farmers have started discussing the product’s performance within their local networks.

Proactive: A news release from the company talks about some performance results you received by working your biofertility product within potatoes. Maybe I’ll let you set it up—what was going on here?

Colin Bletsky: We’ve been working with potatoes for quite a few years now, testing with larger growers, specifically in the Washington State and Idaho areas. It’s been all about how we can impact yields and also have a positive soil health and yield benefit.

Over the past few years, we’ve seen good, consistent results. We started with small plot work in 2024, and then scaled that to large field trials with growers. We’re very pleased with the results—and the growers are very happy too.

It says in the news release that using TerraSante led to increases in a number of areas. Can you talk about some of the key ones?

The first is yield. In the fields we tested, we saw about a two-ton increase in potato yield. The second part is the size and quality of the potatoes—higher proportions of A and B sizes, which are more marketable and fetch higher prices. There were also fewer culls, which are unmarketable. That adds value on top of the increased yield.

There's a lot of talk about farming challenges globally. On the economics—if I’m reading this correctly—for $180 per acre of treatment, they were yielding over $5,000 per acre?

It is a strong number. In agriculture, you're generally aiming for at least a 4-to-1 ROI when applying a product. This exceeded that. Not just due to yield, but also due to the larger-sized potatoes. We’ve seen this consistency in small trials and other regions too. It validates the technology’s impact on soil health, the microbiome, and ultimately plant health and yield.

So how do you move forward now? Are these results helping you scale to other regions?

Definitely. Farmers are now showcasing and talking about the technology locally, which is key. We’ve seen results not just in potatoes but in other crops too. We're taking that local data and sharing it—working with consultants, agronomists, retailers and more. Farmers usually trial a small amount, then increase once they see success in their own fields. We're expecting a ramp-up in 2026 and 2027 in California and other parts of the US.
