Iofina PLC (AIM:IOF, OTC:IOFNF), the iodine producer and speciality chemicals group, is adding industry veteran Tim Hughes to its board at the start of next year.
Hughes, whose career has been anchored in senior roles across the chemicals sector, is set to become a non-executive director from 1 January. He will also join the company’s audit and remuneration committees.
He spent 11 years on the executive committee of Synthomer, the London-listed chemicals group, first running its industrial specialties operation, which included its speciality iodine business.
He later became Synthomer’s president of corporate development, overseeing investor relations, external affairs and the development of the company’s sustainability strategy.
Lance Baller, Iofina’s chairman, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Tim to the board of Iofina. He brings a wealth of experience from across the global specialty chemical industry.
"His knowledge of the iodine sector, combined with his corporate experience, will make him a valuable asset as the Company continues to expand its iodine production facilities and unlock new customer markets.”
Iofina has been working to increase output from its US production sites, where it extracts iodine from brine produced as a by-product of oil and gas wells.
