Markets in a Minute: Marmota, Lightning Minerals shine

The ASX200 closed up on Thursday, gaining 0.15 of a per cent and crossing above its 20-day moving average.

Materials and real estate managed to stay afloat - both sectors were up around 3/4 of a per cent - whilst IT took a big hit, and shed around 1.5 per cent.

Green

Marmota shot up after confirming spectacular gold grades at its Greenewood discovery, with one‑metre samples returning up to 109 grams per tonne near surface.

Lightning Minerals was also up on news it's now planning an aggressive Phase 2 drilling program at its Mt Turner gold project.

Red

Krakatoa Resources finished flat despite confirming extensive visual antimony mineralisation at its Zopkhito project in Georgia, with both underground and surface drilling intersecting stibnite.

St Barbara plunged today after announcing the sale of its Simberi gold project in Papua New Guinea for 800 million dollars.
