Provaris Energy Managing Director & CEO Martin Carolan talked with Proactive about the company’s completion of robotic welding commissioning for its H2 prototype tank in Norway, marking a key milestone in its tank production program. Fabrication has now begun, with automation enabling significantly faster build times compared to traditional methods.
Carolan said, “We can produce these tanks five times quicker than the rate of any manual process,” highlighting the role of robotic precision and laser welding in improving efficiency and scalability. This development not only advances Provaris' H2 tank efforts but also provides a technological foundation for its CO2 tank program.
Strategic partners including Kaylon, Jensen, and Harbour Energy have visited the site, gaining firsthand insight into fabrication progress and technology demonstrations. Carolan noted this transition is accelerating the front-end engineering design (FEED) work for CO2 tanks, benefiting from IP transfer and previous design approvals.
Upcoming milestones include completing fabrication and starting testing in Q1 next year, with class approvals expected to follow. The CO2 tank design is also progressing, with FEED work ongoing through June, leading to customer readiness in 2026. Provaris’ licensing strategy is expected to deliver revenue without heavy capital expenditure.
