OpenAI hires Slack CEO Denise Holland Dresser as Chief Revenue Officer

OpenAI has appointed Denise Holland Dresser, the former CEO of Slack, as its new chief revenue officer, the company said on Tuesday evening, as the AI developer seeks to accelerate enterprise adoption of its tools.

Dresser, who became Slack’s CEO in 2023 after holding executive roles at its parent company Salesforce, will oversee OpenAI’s global revenue strategy.

Slack’s Chief Product Officer Rob Seaman will serve as interim CEO.

“I’ve spent my career helping scale category-defining platforms, and I’m looking forward to bringing that experience to OpenAI as it enters its next phase of enterprise transformation,” Dresser said in a statement.

OpenAI highlighted Dresser’s experience leading large businesses and scaling products used by millions of workers. “Denise has led that kind of shift before, and her experience will help us make AI useful, reliable, and accessible for businesses everywhere,” said Fidji Simo, CEO of Applications at OpenAI.

The move comes as companies increasingly integrate AI into core operations rather than treating it as a one-off tool. According to OpenAI, 75% of workers report that AI has improved the speed or quality of their work, with heavy users saving more than 10 hours per week.

OpenAI’s enterprise offerings include ChatGPT for Work and its API, which allows companies to connect AI directly into internal systems.
