Futura Medical PLC (AIM:FUM, OTC:FAMDF) has secured patent protection in China for its erectile dysfunction gel Eroxon, a move the company says should strengthen its hand as it looks for commercial partners in one of the world’s largest markets.
The notice of allowance means the patent, once formally granted, will run until 2040.
Futura, which specialises in consumer healthcare products backed by clinical evidence, said the decision adds to existing intellectual property protection in Europe, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the United States.
Applications in other territories are still under review, and the company plans to file a divisional patent in China in early 2026.
Eroxon is a topical gel designed to help men with erectile dysfunction, a condition affecting an estimated half of China’s roughly 700 million adult men.
That prevalence underlines the potential scale of the market for products that are easy to use and do not require a prescription.
