The Small Cap Wrap: ASX 200 finishes in the red but small caps buck the trend

The S&P/ASX 200 finished Wednesday 6.50 points lower at 8,579.40. The weakest performers on the index were Reliance Worldwide Corporation Limited and Iluka Resources Limited, down 5.06% and 4.58% respectively. Over the past 5 days the benchmark was little changed, but it has gained 5.15% year to date.

The S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Index (XSO) closed at 3,655.80, up 9.10 points, or 0.25%, on the day. However, the index is down 32.00 points, or 0.87%, over the past 5 days.
