Solara Minerals General Manager Jennifer Neild talked with Proactive about the commencement of drilling at the Degrussa West project, where the company is targeting both gold and copper mineralisation.
Neild explained that this area is part of a package of tenements previously held by Sandfire Resources during the early discovery phase at Degrussa. She noted that while substantial groundwork was already in place — including geophysics and grid drilling — some areas were left underexplored. “We feel that kind of got left behind when other things near surface got picked up really quickly,” Neild said.
The company believes these overlooked zones may hold highly prospective targets, showing strong geological structure, geophysical responses, and even favourable geochemistry. The drilling program is being supported by a $180,000 Exploration Incentive Scheme (EIS) grant, expected to cover up to half of the costs.
“We're a highly experienced team. We're measured, but we're aggressive. So when we drill something, we're going to make sure we test it properly,” Neild added.
She also touched on market dynamics, stating that the recent rise in gold and copper prices adds momentum to this effort. In addition to Degrussa West, Solara Minerals is continuing to assess opportunities for resource growth and new discoveries across other overlooked tenements.
