Kairos Minerals Managing Director Dr Peter Turner talked with Proactive about the signing of a critical mining agreement with the Nyamal Aboriginal Corporation (NAC) for the Mt York gold project. This agreement marks a major milestone in the company’s efforts to develop the project, which has been in the pipeline for some time.
Turner explained that negotiations took around 12 months, conducted both on country and in Perth. He described the relationship with the Nyamal as “absolutely fantastic,” highlighting the spirit of good faith that characterised the agreement process. “Signing the mining agreement with the Nyamal really opens the door for the project to be developed now,” Turner said.
With the agreement in place, the next step is the granting of the mining lease by the state government. Once approved, Kairos Minerals expects to move the Mt York project toward development, with the aim of transforming it into an operational gold mine between 2026 and 2027.
Turner noted that this agreement sets the trajectory for the company’s future development plans and paves the way for the next major regulatory milestone. He added that shareholders have a lot to look forward to over the coming weeks as things progress.
