Solis Minerals CEO Mitch Thomas talked with Proactive about the company receiving the exploration permit for its 100%-owned Cinto copper project in southern Peru. Thomas explained that this milestone comes after two years of groundwork, and the team is now mobilising to begin diamond drilling across 17 permitted drill pads.
Cinto is located in a premier mining region near Southern Copper's Toquepala operation and Anglo American’s Quellaveco project. Thomas highlighted the geological significance, noting, “We share the same Inca del Oro fault zone, and anyone familiar with the Andean Copper Belt knows that’s synonymous with large resources.”
Initial drilling will focus on three chargeability anomalies identified through IP surveys. Solis Minerals has budgeted 2,500 metres of drilling, with expectations of getting a quick read on the project's potential. The company plans to provide early drilling updates before year-end, with visual and potentially assay results anticipated in January.
Thomas also mentioned that additional assay results from other assets are expected in the coming days and will be released before the Christmas break. He described the upcoming period as a “very strong period of news” for Solis Minerals and its shareholders.
