1Spatial shares boosted by £4.2m govt contract

1Spatial Plc (LSE:SPA) shares moved on the front foot after the spatial data specialist landed a contract by Ordnance Survey to act as prime contractor for the next phase of the National Underground Asset Register programme.

The agreement covers the delivery of the data transformation and ingestion service and has a value of £4.2m, including £1.5m of licence revenue. The contract runs for two years with an option for a further three.

NUAR is a Government Digital Service initiative to build a digital map of underground assets across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The system will ingest data from more than 600 asset owners and process it through the 1Spatial data platform.

CEO Claire Milverton said, “We are delighted to continue our collaboration with Ordnance Survey Ltd on this nationally significant project, validating the strength of our product offering.”

Milverton added that NUAR will become one of the most comprehensive underground asset datasets globally and that the complexity of harmonising thousands of datasets creates a significant barrier to entry.

Ordnance Survey’s NUAR business lead, Nick Lindsay, said the project is “a vital step toward improving safety, efficiency and coordination across buried infrastructure.”

The company said the new contract builds on its contribution to the development of the minimum viable product and reinforces its technology role in national infrastructure digitisation.

In London, the share was up 3.7% at 46.6p, having seen as high as 49.6p in early exchanges.
