Hims & Hers shares jump on expansion into Canada

US-based digital health company Hims & Hers Holdings Inc (NYSE:HIMS) is entering the Canadian market following its acquisition of Livewell, a Canadian telehealth platform focused on weight loss and other wellness services.

The move positions Hims & Hers to launch a Canadian weight loss program in 2026, coinciding with the availability of the first generic semaglutide.

Livewell offers treatments for weight management, birth control, acne, erectile dysfunction, and smoking cessation. Hims & Hers also secured .ca domains to support its Canadian expansion.

“Our expansion into Canada is a direct response to critical public health needs, particularly around the obesity crisis,” said Andrew Dudum, CEO of Hims & Hers. “This serves as a fundamental next step in delivering on our core promise: to democratize access to personalized, high-quality care.”

Austin Kouri, general manager of Hims & Hers Canada, added that the platform can complement the local healthcare system. “Our goal is clear: to ensure every Canadian can easily access the care they need to help live a healthier, more fulfilling life,” he said.

Antoine Arbour, co-founder of Livewell, said the partnership will help expand access to obesity care nationwide. “Joining Hims & Hers represents a vital step forward, allowing us to be part of the global movement to democratize access to essential care,” he said.

The acquisition was completed entirely in cash, funded from Hims & Hers’ balance sheet. The company said it plans to expand into additional specialties in Canada and globally as demand for personalized healthcare grows.

Shares of Hims & Hers rose 6.3% following the announcement.
