SSE says it needs to asses "overall investability" in north Scotland networks in response to Ofgem

SSE PLC (LSE:SSE) told investors that SSEN Transmission, its business that's responsible for electricity transmission networks in the north of Scotland, has begun assessing Ofgem’s final determination for the RIIO-T3 price control period, which will run from April 2026 to March 2031.

The company said the decision comes at a critical time for securing clean and affordable power.

"Based on an initial assessment, SSEN Transmission welcomes improvements to baseline total expenditure and notes the updates to Ofgem's proposed financial parameters and incentive regime. However, a detailed assessment is required to determine the overall investability of the package," the power company said in the statement.

"With more material to be released by Ofgem over the next few days, SSEN Transmission will review and assess the price control package in its entirety over the coming weeks, including the proposed licence changes due to be consulted upon shortly."

SSE said SSEN Transmission remains focused on constructive engagement to secure a settlement that supports required investment in the network.
