BioHarvest Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ:BHST) has launched VINIA Blood Hydration, a new electrolyte product that incorporates the company’s Piceid resveratrol ingredient. The launch marks BioHarvest’s entry into the US hydration and electrolyte category, a market the company cites as worth about $13 billion.
The product is now shipping across the US and is sold exclusively through Vinia.com, with free delivery offered in North America.
BioHarvest said the formula is the first hydration solution to use VINIA’s red-grape derived polyphenol complex, which includes Piceid resveratrol. The compound is promoted by the company as supporting blood flow by aiding arterial dilation.
The formulation includes sodium sourced from sea salt, potassium from coconut water, and magnesium from marine deposits, alongside 23 milligrams of VINIA polyphenols and 6 milligrams of rapid-absorption Piceid resveratrol.
BioHarvest CEO Ilan Sobel said his experience in the US hydration market informed the company’s approach to differentiation.
“I am confident that our strategy of Superior Science, Superior Efficacy and Superior Taste will allow our VINIA Blood Flow Hydration solution to disrupt this market and be a meaningful contributor to driving continued high double-digit revenue growth for the company," Sobel said.
Dr Suzanne Steinbaum, a preventive cardiologist and author, described the product as a “true 2-in-one solution,” addressing common health problems.
“First, VINIA Blood Flow Hydration increases the dilation of arteries, which improves circulation, and better blood flow is essential to oxygen and nutrient delivery,” Dr Steinbaum explained. “Second, VINIA Blood Flow Hydration also addresses dehydration, a critical issue for many people, by adding high quality, naturally sourced electrolytes.”
The product is available in six flavors - Mixed Berry, Fruit Punch, Watermelon, Summer Orange, Lemonade, and Lemon Lime - and is formulated by a former Coca-Cola flavor developer.
Each serving contains 470 milligrams of sodium, 190 milligrams of potassium, and 80 milligrams of magnesium.
BioHarvest said the product is tested under the Informed Sport program using ISO 17025-accredited methods.
The company is offering a 90-day money-back guarantee for customers who do not “love the taste or feel the VINIA difference.”
VINIA Blood Flow Hydration is available on the company’s website and is expected to be listed on Amazon by the end of December. BioHarvest said it also plans selective distribution through “point-of-sweat” retail locations targeting active consumers.
Shares of BioHarvest added 2.4% in early Wednesday trading at around US$6.48.
