Fineqia chairman Martin Graham on DeFi and crypto growth - P4

Fineqia chairman Martin Graham on DeFi and crypto growth - P4

Fineqia International Inc (CSE:FNQ) chairman Martin Graham talked with Proactive about the increasing pace of institutional adoption of crypto assets and the company’s strategic focus for the coming year.

Graham said, “Crypto is now an institutional asset class,” highlighting that not only is institutional investment growing, but the rate of growth is accelerating. He pointed to the sharp rise in crypto-based ETPs, with total assets in such products reaching approximately $200 billion. Bitcoin ETPs have seen a $60 billion increase in the last 18 months, while Ethereum ETPs grew by $10 billion in the past three months alone.

Graham also discussed the rising role of DeFi, particularly in supporting regulated yield-generating products for institutions. Over half of institutions are now involved in crypto lending, he noted, with total value locked in DeFi products increasing by 70% year-on-year.

Regarding market dynamics, Graham said volatility in Bitcoin and Ethereum was largely driven by macroeconomic factors. He compared Bitcoin’s current role to that of gold as a store of value and hedge against uncertainty. He added that Ethereum is enabling new use cases, including tokenisation, DeFi protocols, and layer-two applications that enhance blockchain scalability.

Looking ahead, Graham outlined Fineqia’s growth strategy over the next 12 to 18 months, which includes launching more yield-focused products, expanding into tokenised real-world assets, and increasing assets under management. The company also plans to list on additional European exchanges to broaden its investor base.
