Rome Resources kicks off new exploration phase in DRC

Rome Resources Plc (AIM:RMR) told investors it has begun mobilisation of equipment and personnel to the Bisie North project in the DRC as it begins the next exploration phase.

The programme follows the maiden Mineral Resource Estimate released in October.

Today, the company said drilling will test deeper tin zones beneath Mont Agoma, the Mont Agoma East tin zone and high-grade shoots at Kalayi.

It noted that earlier drilling only reached depths of about 220 to 250 metres.

Paul Barrett, chief executive officer, described the new programme as strategically important, highlighting that it is focused on the deeper source of the tin

"We are very pleased to restart operations so soon after delivering the maiden MRE, which confirmed Bisie North as a significant, multi-metallic system with exceptional growth potential," Barrett said.

"This new drilling phase is designed to test exactly where the system is expected to become highest grade specifically at depth beneath Mont Agoma, within the newly identified Mont Agoma East zone, and below the known high-grade shoots at Kalayi."

A helicopter has returned to the DRC to support phased mobilisation of crews and equipment. And, drilling will begin at Mont Agoma, where 3 rigs are currently positioned, before moving to Kalayi once initial holes are completed.

"With mobilisation underway, we look forward to advancing drilling rapidly and updating the market as results come through."
