Charbone Hydrogen Corporation (TSX-V:CH, OTCQB:CHHYF) announced that it has completed equipment installation for Phase 1A at its Sorel-Tracy facility in Quebec and has produced its first hydrogen molecule.
The company stated that technical teams carried out initial production tests during the final weekend of November, following the commissioning of its first clean Ultra High Purity (UHP) hydrogen production module in the province.
The results confirmed proper system function and initial performance parameters, according to a statement from Charbone.
“The completion of the Phase 1A installation and the successful completion of the first hydrogen production tests are key milestones for Charbone,” CEO Dave Gagnon said in a statement.
“These accomplishments demonstrate our teams' ability to execute rigorously. We are now entering the commercial production phase.”
According to the company, the Sorel-Tracy facility is the first local and decentralized clean UHP hydrogen production site in Quebec. Charbone said the modular plant aligns with its strategy to develop a North American network for producing and distributing clean and strategic industrial gases.
Shares of Charbone added 37% in early Monday trading in Toronto at C$0.24 and 48% over the counter in the US at US$0.18.
