Faron Pharmaceuticals Limited (AIM:FARN) has appointed Jurriaan Dekkers as its new chief financial officer, bringing in a seasoned industry executive as the company pushes its lead drug bexmarilimab towards a registrational trial.
Dekkers, who joins today, has spent more than two decades in senior finance roles across biopharma and healthcare.
He was most recently CFO of ProQR Therapeutics and has held positions at AstraZeneca, including chief executive of Acerta Pharma, as well as finance posts at DaVita Medical Group and Sandvik.
He also serves on the supervisory board of Stichting Kinderpostzegels in the Netherlands.
Chief executive Juho Jalkanen said: “We are very happy to welcome Jurriaan into Faron’s team in this exciting growth phase of Faron.
"His experience and proven track record of fundraising and strategic and commercial growth initiatives will support the advancement of our lead asset bexmarilimab as it enters the registrational study.”
The move comes as longstanding finance chief Yrjö Wichmann prepares to retire. He will stay on until the end of the first quarter of 2026 to ensure continuity. Jalkanen added: “I would like to thank Yrjö for his great contributions to Faron over the years… We will miss him, and wish him all the best in his retirement.”
