The Market Wrap: ASX 200 and small caps retreat

The S&P/ASX 200 finished lower on Monday, shedding 48.9 points, or 0.57%, to close at 8,565.2, with AUB Group Ltd and Metcash Ltd the weakest performers, down 17.77% and 9.19% respectively. Despite the session’s decline, the benchmark is up 0.47% over the past five days and 4.98% year to date.

The S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Index (XSO) also retreated, falling 29.8 points, or 0.80%, to 3,692.5, though it remains 72.6 points, or 2.01%, higher over the past five sessions.
