Small caps enter the week on firmer footing: the Small Ordinaries rose 0.8% into Friday’s close as resources and mid-caps drew renewed attention. As markets await key data, light early newsflow includes a couple of key updates. You can read about the following and more throughout the day.
Greatland Resources
Greatland Resources Ltd (AIM:GGP, OTC:GRLGF, ASX:GGP) has released its Feasibility Study for the Havieron gold-copper project, confirming a pathway to a long-life, lowest-quartile cost underground mine integrated with the existing Telfer infrastructure. The study outlines a steady-state production target of 266,000 ounces of gold and 9,600 tonnes of copper per year, supported by a 38.5 million tonne reserve — now the largest underground gold reserve in Australia outside the majors.
The project carries a base-case post-tax NPV of $2.9 billion and is expected to be fully funded through Greatland’s $750 million cash position, ongoing Telfer cash flows and a new $500 million debt facility. Management says the development positions the company for long-term growth while work continues to extend Telfer’s mine life and progress remaining approvals.
Altech Batteries
Battery-materials and energy-storage outfit Altech Batteries Ltd (ASX:ATC, OTC:ALTHF) has reshuffled its board and launched a strategic overhaul. The new leadership plans to re-focus the company on commercialisation of its core battery-technology platforms — CERENERGY® and Silumina Anodes™ — ditching incremental funding models in favour of big-partner collaborations.
Under the new strategy, Altech will prioritise securing strategic partners, unlocking European grant funding, rationalising non-core assets, and cutting costs in non-essential operations. CEO Daniel Raihani said the reset reflects an “honest appraisal” of where Altech stands today and what’s needed to deliver value from its advanced technology portfolio.
