Recce Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX:RCE, OTC:RECEF) has secured formal grant of its Patent Family 4 in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, with expiry in 2041.
The Hong Kong patent covers RECCE® 327 (R327) and RECCE® 529 (R529), including:
- Processes for the preparation of RECCE® anti-infectives.
- Use of R327 and R529 in treating disease, particularly bacterial and viral infections, including Acute Bacterial Skin and Skin Structure Infections (ABSSSI), Diabetic Foot Infections (DFI), burn wounds, lung infections (including ventilator-associated pneumonia and hospital-acquired pneumonia), urinary tract infections, gonorrhoea, influenza and SARS-CoV-2.
- Multiple administration routes, including oral, inhalation, transdermal and injection (intravenous and intramuscular).
- Formulations such as aerosol, gel, topical foam and ointment, as well as impregnation into dressings for application to skin or mucous membranes for transdermal or transmucosal delivery.

Sixth Patent Family 4 grant
Recce is developing a new class of synthetic anti-infectives, and this is its sixth Patent Family 4 grant, complementing patents in Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan and China, with additional Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications at various stages of review or allowance.
The Hong Kong pharmaceutical market is estimated at about US$2.5 billion and forecast to grow at a 6.5% CAGR from 2025 to 2030. The grant strengthens Recce’s intellectual property position in a key Asian market as it advances its Phase 3 clinical trial in Indonesia and pursues further regulatory pathways across ASEAN, supporting future market entry opportunities for its next-generation anti-infectives.
Positive preclinical results

Yesterday the company delivered another set of positive preclinical results for its lead anti-infective candidate, RECCE® 327 (R327), in a study focused on hospital- and ventilator-acquired pneumonia (HAP/VAP).

In work conducted under its ongoing collaboration with the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI), nebulised R327 administered directly to the lungs produced a marked reduction in Acinetobacter baumannii, a multidrug-resistant “superbug” associated with difficult-to-treat hospital infections.
Recce said the results build on earlier findings from MCRI and further highlight the broad-spectrum potential of R327 as a synthetic anti-infective. The company continues to expand its clinical and preclinical pipeline through 2024 and 2025, including a Phase 3 trial in burn wound infections and a dosing study in diabetic foot infections currently underway in Indonesia.
