Eclipse Metals Ltd (ASX:EPM) has appointed BGR Group, “a preeminent US strategic advisory and government affairs firm”, to lead its outreach to the US Administration, key federal agencies, Congress and defence-related bodies. The engagement is aimed at strengthening Eclipse’s position within potential US funding and partnership programs focused on rare-earth supply chain resilience, while also raising the company’s visibility in the US market as it advances the Ivigtût–Grønnedal critical minerals district in southwest Greenland.
The Greenland portfolio spans two complementary systems at Grønnedal and Ivigtût.
Greenland REE Deposits and location of Grønnedal and Ivigtût.
Grønnedal hosts a carbonatite rare earth system with a JORC-compliant Inferred Resource of 89 million tonnes at 6,363 parts per million (ppm) total rare earth oxides (TREO), including key magnet elements Nd, Pr, Dy, Tb and Y. This positions it as “one of the most significant undeveloped Western sources of magnetic rare earth elements”.
Ivigtût, the historic cryolite mine, has been confirmed through drilling and sampling as a polymetallic, rare-earth enriched system with high-purity industrial mineral potential, including advanced silica quartz. Together, the deposits form a “dual-critical-minerals opportunity” that reflects US and allied priorities for secure, Western-aligned supply chains.
A 'significant milestone' in geopolitical positioning
Executive chairman Carl Popal said the BGR appointment marks a crucial step in elevating Eclipse’s geopolitical profile.
“The appointment of BGR is a significant milestone in strengthening the geopolitical positioning of our Greenland assets. Their experience operating at the highest levels of US policymaking will be highly valuable as Eclipse advances its goal of establishing Ivigtût–Grønnedal as a premier Western source of critical rare earth elements.
“With simultaneous progress across the US and European spheres, Eclipse is now better positioned than ever to translate our world-class geological foundations into strategic partnerships, government support and long-term value for our shareholders.”
The company is also engaging a European consultant to support policy alignment, industry outreach and early-stage positioning within European strategic-materials networks, creating a coordinated trans-Atlantic approach aligned with US and EU strategic-minerals frameworks.
Expanded US advisory bench led by Lloyd Green and BGR
Eclipse’s long-standing US advisor, Lloyd Green, will continue to guide the company’s American engagement and coordinate with BGR and other stakeholders.
“Greenland represents one of the most important emerging rare-earth opportunities for the West. Eclipse’s commitment to responsible development, combined with the high-grade potential of both Ivigtût and Grønnedal, positions the company squarely within US strategic-materials priorities," Green said.
"We look forward to working closely with BGR and supporting Eclipse’s continued progress in Washington.”
Former US Ambassador to NATO and BGR practice chair Douglas Lute added: “BGR Group looks forward to assisting Eclipse in the US with its important work. BGR is eager to support Eclipse’s progress with regard to strategic minerals and with its interface with US government officials and other vital stakeholders.”
Shareholder upside: Visibility, funding pathways and Western alignment
The BGR engagement is designed to enhance Eclipse’s credibility within US strategic-materials programs, improve prospects of attracting non-dilutive funding and strategic partnerships, and firmly position Ivigtût–Grønnedal within a Western-aligned supply chain.
The initiative is also expected to support broader international backing for development of Grønnedal’s rare earths resource and Ivigtût’s polymetallic and industrial mineral potential.
Coordinated work across the US and Europe ensures that technical progress feeds directly into discussions around policy, funding and strategic-minerals collaboration.
Operational progress underpins strategic outreach in 2025
Alongside this geopolitical push, Eclipse is advancing a coordinated technical program across Ivigtût–Grønnedal.
The company has completed a 2025 diamond drilling campaign totalling 1,208 metres across key rare earth and polymetallic zones, with core now undergoing detailed mineralogical and metallurgical test work. Bench-scale studies are in progress covering magnetic separation, flotation, gravity processing and hydrometallurgical pathways aligned with Western processing standards.
At Ivigtût, silica-quartz samples are being assessed for high-purity industrial applications, while ongoing logging, structural interpretation, ALS assay preparation and updated geological modelling across both deposits continue to inform follow-up drilling, geophysics and expanded metallurgical programs.
These technical advances reinforce the project’s strategic potential and support its push for US and European engagement in 2025.
