Polarean enters Asia with first Xenon MRI deal in Taiwan

Polarean Imaging PLC (AIM:POLX, OTC:PLLWF) has secured its first foothold in Asia after National Taiwan University Hospital agreed to install one of the company’s Xenon MRI research systems.

The deal has been arranged through Philips, Polarean’s long-standing strategic partner, and supported by Sumtage, the company’s newly appointed distributor in Taiwan.

Sumtage will handle installation and training at the hospital and work with Polarean on the steps needed to secure regulatory approval and, in time, reimbursement for the technology.

National Taiwan University Hospital is regarded as the country’s leading academic medical centre, known for clinical research and advanced care.

Xenon MRI is designed to provide functional images of the lungs by using hyperpolarised xenon gas, which offers more detailed information than standard scans.

Christopher von Jako, chief executive, said: “This first Xenon MRI system in Taiwan, supported by Philips and Sumtage, marks an important milestone in our international strategy.”
