Far East Gold CEO Shane Menere talked with Proactive about recent strong results from drilling at the Sua prospect, part of the Idenburg project in Indonesia.
Menere reported a standout intercept of 8.59 grams per tonne over 35 metres, which included a section of 280 grams per tonne over 0.4 metres, describing it as part of a continuous, high-grade corridor. He said: “This is proving it’s not just a spike – it’s consistent high-grade gold across very long intervals.”
The latest hole extended the high-grade area by 25 metres and remains open for another 75 metres. Menere highlighted that this supports the interpretation of a large orogenic gold system.
He also compared the results with earlier drilling: “This one [hole] is much, much higher grade and a much bigger intercept.” Both holes contained visible gold, which Menere said reinforces the reliability of historical data and the existing geological model.
Menere discussed how the recent PIPPIB approval from the Indonesian government has provided full clearance to advance drilling at Idenburg, helping unlock more of the project's potential. The combined developments support Far East Gold’s view of Idenburg as a district-scale opportunity, with the company aiming to upgrade its existing 540,000-ounce JORC resource, including 296,000 ounces at Sewer.
