Carnavale Resources CEO Humphrey Hale talked with Proactive about his 25-year career journey in geology and mining. From his early passion at age 13 to leading Carnavale Resources today, Hale shared reflections on his development across multiple commodities and global roles.
Although he has held several senior executive roles, Hale still prefers to be known simply as a geologist. He described his leadership style as a facilitator who enjoys building teams and adding value through collaboration and exploration.
Hale also recounted early career challenges, including a failed gold mining venture in Queensland with friends in the 1990s that taught him resilience and adaptability. He later moved to Western Australia, where he has spent much of his career, and discussed how technology and work culture in mining have evolved—though the thrill of discovery remains unchanged.
