Small Cap Watch: Early news trickles in as markets look to extend rebound

Small caps enter Tuesday on firmer footing after the ASX 200 posted a strong rebound on Monday, driven by rate-cut optimism and renewed strength in high-growth sectors. The Small Ords index closed the day up 1.8%.

While broader markets continue to track shifting US rate expectations and geopolitical signals, early local newsflow is relatively light, with several junior names advancing project milestones across gold, critical minerals, and energy.

Pantoro Gold: High-grade hits strengthen Norseman underground potential

Pantoro Gold Ltd (ASX:PNR, OTC:PNTOF) has delivered another round of high-grade intersections from underground drilling at the Mainfield area of its 100%-owned Norseman Gold Project in WA. Follow-up drilling continues to confirm a steep high-grade plunge on the Crown South Reef while also extending mineralisation at O’Briens Reef.

Intersections include standout grades such as 2.40 metres at 43.19 g/t gold, plus visible gold logged in several holes. Rehabilitation of the Bullen Decline continues, and early mine planning suggests access to both reefs could begin within six to nine months.

Alkane Resources adds former KPMG partner to board

Alkane Resources Ltd (ASX:ALK, OTC:ALKEF) has appointed Denise McComish as an independent non-executive director effective December 1. A former KPMG partner with three decades of experience in audit, governance and ESG, McComish will also chair Alkane’s Audit & Risk Committee.

She currently sits on several boards, including Synergy and Beyond Blue, and previously served with Gold Road Resources, Mineral Resources and Macmahon Holdings. Chair Andy Quinn said her appointment strengthens the company’s governance as it advances long-term growth objectives.

Atomic Eagle: New uranium explorer debuts on the ASX

Atomic Eagle has officially begun trading on the ASX following the merger of Tombador Iron and GoviEx Uranium, creating a well-funded African-focused uranium explorer with the Muntanga Project in Zambia as its flagship asset.

The company emerges with around $20 million in cash, a refreshed board led by Govind Friedland, and near-term newsflow including a JORC exploration target and maiden drill results across key prospects.

Animoca Brands wins ADGM in-principle approval

Animoca Brands Corporation Ltd has secured in-principle approval from Abu Dhabi’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority to operate as a regulated fund manager, pending final conditions. The approval would allow the company to manage collective investment funds within the ADGM jurisdiction.

The move expands Animoca’s institutional footprint in the Middle East as it continues building regulated pathways for Web3 and digital-asset participation. The company maintains investments across more than 600 blockchain-focused ventures and views the UAE as a key growth hub for its global strategy.
