Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has appointed experienced exploration executive Chris Newman as a non-executive director.
Newman is a geologist with more than 35 years of international experience in exploration, mining operations, resource development and corporate mergers and acquisitions. He has been associated with multiple exploration discoveries across Australia, Turkey and Canada, and has led teams in advancing projects through to full-scale mining production.
He currently works as an independent consultant to the mining sector, advising executive management and corporate clients on detailed technical assessments, corporate transactions and career mentoring.
“The specialist skills and experience that Chris brings will be invaluable as Yandal enters the next phase of growth," Yandal Resources’ chair, Greg Evans, said. "Chris adds the geological skill set that the board very much values, and he is very well placed to provide technical oversight, support and guidance to our board and the rest of the team as we continue to develop our discoveries and define additional exploration targets.”

Before establishing his consulting practice, Newman’s most recent managerial position was geology manager at Dacian Gold. He has also held similar geology leadership roles at Carbine Resources, Atherton Resources and Alacer Gold.
Newman holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Geology with a minor in Mathematics. He is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and a Member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists.
