Small Cap Watch: Quiet start to Friday trade as Lindian and Elixir advance project build-outs

It’s a slower morning for small caps, with local markets bracing for a weaker open after overnight volatility on Wall Street. But while broader newsflow is subdued, project-level updates from ASX juniors offer a clearer snapshot of where activity is picking up across resources.

Below are the key early developments this morning.

Lindian Resources

Lindian Resources Ltd (ASX:LIN, OTC:LINIF) has started construction on the Tipume accommodation village at its Kangankunde Rare Earths Project in Malawi, marking the shift from planning into delivery. Early site preparation is complete, and civil works begin on December 15 ahead of a Q1 2026 completion.

Designed to house up to 90 staff, Tipume includes recreation facilities, a mess hall and fully furnished, air-conditioned rooms. Executive director Zac Komur said the camp will provide a safe and modern base as Kangankunde advances towards its next development phase.

Elixir Energy

Elixir Energy Ltd (ASX:EXR, OTC:ELXPF) has finalised its rig contract with Helmerich & Payne, securing the high-spec FlexRig 3 MM 648 — imported by Shell for its Taroom Trough campaign — for the upcoming Lorelle-3 appraisal well. Civil works and well pad construction are 30% complete, with rig mobilisation scheduled for January 12, 2026, and spudding to follow soon after.

Managing director Stuart Nicholls said Lorelle-3 could be a defining well for the Taroom Trough, noting that Elixir is drilling into the same reservoirs as Shell and using the same next-generation equipment as part of its fast-follower strategy.
