Bloomberg broadens Australian bond pricing with expanded coverage, intraday data and enhanced curves

Bloomberg has expanded its BVAL evaluated pricing service and IBVAL intraday front-office pricing, giving investors access to comprehensive fixed income pricing for Australian bonds in a single location for the first time.

The move comes as Australia’s securitised products market hits a record, with 2024 issuance reaching A$79.46 billion, making it the third-largest market globally outside the United States, according to Bloomberg data.

BVAL now includes evaluated pricing for an additional 600 Australian ABS securities, alongside existing coverage of 1,600 Australian RMBS securities and Australian corporates. The expanded universe offers investors a single source of pricing across a wider range of Australian fixed income, supporting easier comparison of risk, return and valuation across asset classes, as well as more streamlined reporting and analytics.

Bloomberg has also increased IBVAL pricing coverage during Australian trading hours to include USD corporates and emerging market bonds, as well as AUD and NZD government and corporate bonds. The extended intraday coverage is designed to close a long-standing gap for local investors by providing near real-time prices aligned with active market hours.

In addition, Bloomberg has strengthened its BVAL Curves offering by adding mid- and ask-side issuer curves to complement existing bid-side curves. The enhancement is intended to help meet Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) requirements by delivering risk metrics that better reflect market conditions through a more balanced view of both buyer and seller activity.

“As Australia’s financial markets evolve, investors are increasingly seeking advanced tools to assess risk, return, and valuation trends across credit markets,” said Jen Pariseau, Global Head of BVAL Securitised Products at Bloomberg. “We’ve worked in lockstep with our clients in Australia to build what they need: reliable pricing, intraday transparency, and curves that reflect real market dynamics.”

BVAL is available on the Bloomberg Terminal and via Data License at data.Bloomberg.com, with delivery options including SFTP, REST API or integration into a cloud environment of choice. On the Bloomberg Terminal, clients can access IBVAL pricing by loading a security and selecting IBVL PCS as the preferred pricing source. IBVAL is also available through Bloomberg’s real-time market data feed, B-PIPE, allowing firms to integrate intraday pricing data across their enterprise.
