Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) announced Monday that customers can now shop, finance, and purchase Ford Blue Advantage certified pre-owned vehicles through Amazon Autos, Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN)'s online car shopping platform.
The program allows buyers to browse participating local dealerships’ inventories online, complete most paperwork digitally, and schedule a pickup time for their selected vehicle.
All vehicles sold under the program are backed by a Ford Blue Advantage warranty, which includes a multi-point inspection and roadside assistance.
Customers also have the option to return a vehicle within 14 days or 1,000 miles under the program’s money-back guarantee.
The certification program offers multiple levels to meet different customer needs. Gold Certified vehicles are Ford models up to six years old with fewer than 80,000 miles, and they undergo a 172-point inspection with a 12-month or 12,000-mile comprehensive limited warranty.
EV Certified applies to Ford electric vehicles up to six years old with fewer than 80,000 miles and includes a specialized 127-point inspection along with the same warranty coverage as Gold Certified.
Blue Certified covers Ford and other brands up to 10 years old with fewer than 150,000 miles, featuring a 139-point inspection and a 90-day or 4,000-mile warranty.
The program has launched in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas, with plans to expand to additional markets in the coming months. About 20 dealerships are live or about to go live on the platform, with 160 to 200 expressing interest.
Ford is the second major automaker to join Amazon Autos after Hyundai, which launched new vehicle sales on the platform.
Shares of Ford traded down 1.2% at $13 in the early afternoon on Monday.
