Peter Thiel sells off Nvidia stake amid AI valuation concerns

Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:NVDA, ETR:NVD) shares traded more than 2% lower after it was revealed that billionaire investor Peter Thiel sold his entire holding in the AI chipmaker through his hedge fund.

According to filings for the third quarter of 2025, the divestment included approximately 538,000 shares, valued at nearly $100 million, and reduced the fund’s equity portfolio by roughly two-thirds. Nvidia previously accounted for around 40% of the fund’s assets.

Thiel did not provide public commentary on the sale.

The report comes amid growing investor caution over high valuations in AI-focused technology companies. Other prominent investors, such as SoftBank, have also scaled back their positions in AI-related stocks amid concerns of a potential “AI bubble.”

Alongside Nvidia, Thiel also reduced holdings in Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) and exited Vistra Energy, while increasing stakes in more established technology companies, including Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL, ETR:APC) and Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT).

Thiel, co-founder of PayPal Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:PYPL, ETR:2PP) and Palantir Technologies Inc (NYSE:PLTR), has a long history of technology investing and venture activity, including early backing of Facebook and support for companies like SpaceX and Airbnb. As of 2025, his personal net worth is estimated at $16.3 billion.
