UBS is expecting global PC unit sales to grow by around 3% in 2026, helped higher by the Windows 10 end-of-life upgrade cycle and higher adoption of AI PCs.
What does that mean for investors? ... well, for one, according to the Swiss bank, it means good news for Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:AMD, ETR:AMD) and its investors, with analysts expecting it to capture more market share compared to rival Intel Corp (NASDAQ:INTC, ETR:INL).
Intel’s notebook share fell by 130 basis points and its desktop share fell by 140 basis points in the third quarter, taking its overall X86 PC share to 74.6%, UBS analysts noted.
AMD gained around 40 basis points of revenue share, the team of analysts said, highlighting stronger-than-seasonal demand across the microprocessor market from PCs to server CPUs.
Overall, the market saw 'broadly flat' shipments quarter-on-quarter compared with a typical 6% decline for that part of the year, whilst overall there's an 11% year-over-year improvement.
