Krakatoa Resources Executive Chairman Colin Locke talked with Proactive about visible antimony intercepts from surface and underground drilling at the Zopkhito project in Georgia.
Locke confirmed that 12 of the 15 completed surface drill holes have intercepted visible mineralisation, which the company described as a first-time confirmation of such occurrences at the site. He noted that the remaining three holes were not completed due to drilling issues, not a lack of mineralisation.
“We also published today that seven out of the nine in edit coring have got really good visible mineralisation,” Locke said. He highlighted a core photo showing material estimated to contain 40% mineralisation, adding, “It’s likely to be high grade.”
The company has submitted two batches of surface drill assays to a lab in Turkey and expects to send samples from the underground coring soon. Locke reiterated that while no assay results have been released yet, expectations remain high.
Locke also discussed a foreign resource of 7.10 million tonnes grading 3.7% antimony, equating to around 825,000 ounces of contained metal. He noted that historical Soviet-era exploration had largely ignored the project's gold potential, which remains open for expansion.
