Reeboot AI director Vishal Maharaj talked with Proactive about the launch of Australia's first clinically governed mental health assistant app. Designed to deliver safe, accessible, and ethical support, Reeboot AI provides immediate mental health assistance via AI technology.
Maharaj explained that the idea stemmed from his clinical experience as a psychologist and his ongoing commitment to addressing gaps in access to mental health care. “I’ve always used technology as an ally… to make sure access and continuity of clinical care is met,” he said.
Unlike generic chatbots, Reeboot AI incorporates robust clinical guardrails and risk detection systems. It delivers on-demand support while maintaining a safety-first framework. If a user is deemed at risk, they are immediately provided with emergency contacts and linked to real-time medical support through partnered GP clinics.
The platform has already attracted international interest, with expansions underway in South Africa, India, and Brazil. It also serves as a B2B solution, enabling large organisations to provide scalable mental health support to employees.
Reeboot AI’s hybrid model bridges AI and human clinicians, positioning it as a gateway to broader healthcare support — especially in remote areas.
