Markets in a Minute: Elixir shines, NAB and IPH sink

The ASX200 shot up on Thursday, gaining 0.29 per cent after setting a new 20-day low.

Materials bucked the trend - the sector shot up nearly 1.5 per cent - whilst consumer discretionary and IT took a hit and ended in the red.

Green

Elixir Energy shot up on news it's secured 189 billion cubic feet equivalent of newly certified two C Contingent Gas Resources in Queensland, lifting its total to 2.8 trillion cubic feet equivalent.

Resource Minerals International also shot up after kicking off ground magnetic surveys at the Shaib Marqan and Wadi Salamah gold and silver projects in Saudi Arabia.

Red

National Australia Bank plunged as its FY25 results missed expectations. Cash earnings came in at 7.09 billion dollars — slightly below forecasts.

IPH was also hit hard - after the company announced the retirement of CEO and MD Andrew Blattman after 30 years with the company.
