Far East Gold Ltd (ASX:FEG) Managing Director and CEO Shane Menere talked with Proactive about a significant regulatory milestone for the company’s Indonesian operations. Speaking from Jakarta, Menere confirmed that Far East Gold has secured PIPPIB approval across 9,000 hectares of the Idenburg project, which includes the North Bermol prospect.
“This removes all the major regulatory barriers and opens the door for something much bigger,” said Menere.
The approval reclassifies the project’s forestry status, enabling the company to proceed with environmental permitting, operational licensing, and ultimately mine development. Menere explained this step provides "regulatory certainty" and allows the project to shift from an exploration story to one prepared for development.
Far East Gold will now continue drilling at North Bermol, where high-grade gold was recently intercepted. Drilling is also underway at Anak Perak, which holds a significant portion of the company's existing resource. Menere confirmed that further assay results from these programs will be released shortly.
“We’re seeing some very interesting things there,” he said, referencing both drilling areas, and added that the company expects to maintain a “steady news flow” from ongoing exploration activities.
