374Water kicks off contract with State of North Carolina for AFFF destruction services

374Water Inc (NASDAQ:SCWO) announced that it is processing the first phase of its award by the State of North Carolina for its Waste Destruction Services (WDS) to destroy Aqueous Film-Forming Foam (AFFF) utilizing its AirSCWO technology.

The provider of organic waste destruction technology and services said it will provide WDS to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Collaboratory, with the first phase involving the treatment of 1,000 gallons of AFFF.

“This award highlights the growing regulatory pressure to eliminate PFAS (polyfluoroalkyl substances) and waste, and WDS offers a flexible, scalable destruction solution that addresses some of the world's most pressing environmental contaminants,” 374Water interim CEO Stephen Jones said in a statement.

“PFAS is a headline issue for North Carolina, and this award leverages our leadership with cutting-edge AirSCWO technology and Waste Destruction Services to take meaningful action against PFAS contamination and set a new standard for responsible waste management nationwide.”

374Water noted that if selected for the second phase, the company could treat up to an additional 28,000 gallons of AFFF.
