Faron’s bexmarilimab to feature in oral session at ASH 2025 as data strengthens

Faron Pharmaceuticals Limited (AIM:FARN) said two presentations on its lead immunotherapy, bexmarilimab, have been accepted for the upcoming American Society of Hematology (ASH) 2025 Annual Meeting, including an oral presentation highlighting the drug’s efficacy in high-risk blood cancers.

The oral abstract will present results from the Phase 1/2 BEXMAB trial assessing bexmarilimab with azacitidine in patients with TP53-mutated, higher-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (HR-MDS), one of the most difficult forms of the disease to treat.

The study showed an overall response rate of 78% and a composite complete response rate of 44% in newly diagnosed patients, while those with relapsed or refractory disease achieved a 46% response rate and median survival of 9.3 months.

A second abstract, to be presented as a poster, will report on transfusion independence and safety data, showing that the drug combination supports blood cell recovery with a low rate of side effects.

Chief executive Dr Juho Jalkanen said the repeated selection of bexmarilimab for oral sessions “underscores the strength and consistency of the data we are generating,” adding that results from the tough TP53-mutated group “highlight the potential of bexmarilimab to address a significant unmet need.”

This is the fifth major medical conference in 2025 to feature bexmarilimab data, following earlier presentations at the MDS Foundation, EHA, ESMO and ASCO meetings, further strengthening the treatment’s growing clinical profile.
