Optima Health grows 17% as it expands into Ireland and boosts tech platform

Optima Health PLC (AIM:OPT), which provides corporate health and wellbeing services, reported a 17% rise in first-half revenue to around £59 million, in line with market forecasts.

The company said the growth reflected solid demand across its business as it integrates recent acquisitions and steps up investment in technology.

The group’s net debt stood at £4.7 million at the end of September, with £8.3 million in cash and £13 million of borrowings. Its balance sheet remains “robust,” the company said, as it continues to invest in its expansion plans.

Optima has been mobilising a £210 million contract to deliver medical assessments for the UK Armed Forces, which it described as a key milestone in its public sector work.

New annualised contract wins were £1.9 million for the half year, down from £3.6 million a year earlier, but the company said its pipeline of opportunities remained healthy.

The half-year also saw two acquisitions. In April, Optima bought Ireland-based Cognate Health for up to €9 million, marking its first overseas move.

The business was rebranded as Optima Health Ireland in September, reflecting the group’s aim to support multinational clients across both the UK and Ireland.

In June, Optima completed the acquisition of Care First, an employee assistance provider previously owned by the Priory Group, for £15,000.

The deal is expected to add about £3.7 million of annual revenue. Integration work has begun, with the unit now being folded into Optima’s main operations.

Chief executive Jonathan Thomas said the company had “achieved solid progress in the first half of the year” and remained confident in its strategy.

“The two strategic acquisitions that we completed have strengthened our UK footprint and marked our entry into our first international territory, expanding both our reach and capability,” he added.

Optima is also upgrading its technology platform to support both clinical and operational delivery. The company said these improvements would enhance its customer offering, cut costs and improve margins over time.

The firm expects to publish its interim results for the six months to 30 September in December. The board said it continued to see strong prospects for further growth in the 2026 financial year.
