NanoViricides targets broad-spectrum virus threats – ICYMI

NanoViricides (NYSE-A:NNVC) CEO Dr Anil Diwan talked with Proactive about the company’s latest progress with its broad-spectrum antiviral candidate, NV-387.

Dr Diwan confirmed that NV-387 demonstrated strong results in a range of preclinical models, including measles, RSV, influenza, and Covid.

“We found that our drug works extremely well against measles," he noted. "Now there is no other drug against measles at all.”

NanoViricides has completed Phase 1 clinical trials for NV-387, with no adverse events reported. The drug is orally active, a rarity for nanomedicines, and has been tested against both RNA and DNA viruses in animal models.

The company is preparing to launch a Phase 2 clinical trial in the DRC for Mpox, following regulatory approval. It is also exploring physician-led IND studies in the US for potential emergency use of the drug in severe measles cases.

Dr Diwan highlighted the broad potential of NV-387: “It worked against RSV, it worked on measles… it worked against Covid… it kind of covered all the respiratory viruses that we usually think of.”
