Shawbrook jumps after making London stock market return

Shawbrook Bank Ltd shares jumped more than 6% in early trading on Thursday as the specialist lender began trading on the London Stock Exchange in the biggest UK float of 2025 so far.

The bank’s shares were priced at 370p, valuing the group just below £2 billion, before climbing to 393p by mid-morning.

The listing marks a return to public markets for Shawbrook, which lends to small businesses and property investors, after several years under private equity ownership.

Around £348 million of shares, or 18% of the company, were sold by existing investors BC Partners and Pollen Street Capital, while the bank raised £50 million in new capital.

Chief executive Marcelino Castrillo said the strong investor demand underscored confidence in the bank’s growth prospects.

The debut comes amid a tentative revival in London’s listings market, following recent floats by Beauty Tech Group and Fermi, as well as plans for further offerings from Princes and others.
