Astrid Intelligence PLC (AQSE:ASTR) has appointed artificial intelligence specialist and entrepreneur Léo Mercier as its new Bittensor strategist, strengthening the company’s technical leadership as it builds out its decentralised AI network.
The London-listed company said on Wednesday that Mercier will oversee the development of Astrid’s Bittensor subnet, part of an open-source blockchain designed to connect and reward AI models.
He will also guide innovation across the group’s product design, data analytics and automation functions.
Mercier is well known in the AI and digital assets world. Last year, he launched AROK.VC, billed as the first venture capital fund managed entirely by an artificial intelligence agent.
He also co-founded Crowdform, a digital product and venture studio operating in London and São Paulo.
Olivia Edwards, Astrid’s executive chair, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Léo to the Astrid team. His significant expertise across AI and digital assets makes him uniquely placed to level up our operational AI business and Bittensor expertise.
"We're looking forward to working closely with him as we usher in the next phase of Astrid's growth."
Astrid Intelligence, which trades on the Aquis Exchange, develops decentralised AI technologies that aim to distribute computing power and data ownership across networks rather than central servers, an approach that is gaining traction as interest grows in blockchain-based AI infrastructure.
